How to plan custom-curtain costs

Compare worked examples and estimate an offered curtain configuration using the same pricing service as our product pages. Hardware, tax, shipping and installation are separate.

Step 1

Start with the whole track width

Curtain coverage width means the full rod or track coverage, not the width of the fabric laid flat. Enter the full coverage once for either a single panel or a pair. For a pair, do not double or halve it.

Use the finished drop you want, measured from the actual hanging point. Our curtain configuration accepts coverage from 12 to 144 inches and drop from 20 to 144 inches, in eighth-inch increments. Some very narrow configurations cannot be priced; the planner will ask you to review them.

Step 2

Compare lining and panel choices

Choose unlined, privacy lining or blackout lining. Privacy and blackout lining use the same pricing rules. The lined calculation uses the approved fabric width for the selected family; that width differs among our fabrics.

The three offered curtain headings share the same pricing rules. The planner uses the same fabric allowance as the product configuration and calculates a single panel or a pair as selected.

Step 3

Keep separate costs visible

The curtain estimate excludes coordinating hardware, installation labor, tax and shipping. You arrange installation. Complete K-Rail and Architrac hardware kits are configured and priced separately.

One quantity means one selected single panel or one selected pair. Increase quantity only for identical configurations; measure different windows separately.

Step 4

Review the actual fabric before buying

A screen cannot establish the exact color, feel or finished light control in your room. Request free fabric samples and review your chosen fabric, lining and dimensions before paying.

The examples below describe specific configurations, rather than a starting price for every curtain. Use the planner for your measurements, then confirm the options and current price on the product page.

A measured example

Each example is one pair of curtains covering a 72-inch track, with a 96-inch finished drop and the same fabric allowance used by our product configuration. Any of our three offered headings uses the same pricing rules. These examples exclude hardware, installation, tax and shipping.

Estimate your curtain configuration

Enter full track coverage once. Quantity is the number of identical pairs or single panels. This estimate uses our product-page pricing service; it does not create an order.
